Xilmior, I really like how his face turned out here. I think I've finally set a "style" for him

Motagene. Her head is that odd shape is because of a custom her people practice; they start tying binds around the heads of their young before the skull has grown wholly together and the bone is softer and more fragile. They keep doing this until the person goes into puberty, and voila, cone head! The dark spots in her face is from an accident as a kid

Banner I did for FurAffinity, I was happier about this two days ago, now I have to look at all the errors I found after finishing it everytime I visit the site. thank god for Opera ad block!

Gosh, this is crappy, probably the reason I gave up on it after half an hour. It shows a pakkaderi in the foreground trying to talk with a foreign traveller without getting too close... or something

Happy Earth Day people in LJ-land! I always forget I have this corner of the web at my disposal, which is why I've yet to reply to anyone from my previous post. Thanks for all the kind words on that, I'll see if anything can be done about the lack of replies now

Someone (when I asked people in my private blog about it) requested something B/W from me, and I didn't think I could pull it off. Until today that is. This was completely random, I wanted to do a portrait of a moskuan - a fictional species of mine. This is no one in particular as I've yet to pin down the design of the couple of moskuan characters I have. The cig is only there because cigs can only make a work of art better

Oi, totally forgot I had this account way over here, time for an update, I think

Stoner-whale-thingy I did per request for the crowd on my uStream ages ago, just I never finished it until just recently

My character Night (Night, Natt, Nacht, Nox, Notte, whatever means "night" in any language will suffice), she's the personification of night and darkness, comes stomping over the world each evening to spread the joy and darkness seeping from the very core of her being~

I've decided to keep my concept art babble to myself, the art, however, stays. For note, his is a specimen of a race I've decided to call moskuans

Art Post LXIX - First post of the new year!

Piece I did for maggock via the holiday art exchange I threw last year. These are her characters Mag and Id from her webcomic Inner Space - a very well drawn and original piece of fiction

There might be some sensetive content under the cut, nothing worse than decapitation and ass, though

This was a commission for a very nice guy who goes by the name Rodent on the interbutts. He wanted his jackal character in the process of sucking the soul out of a meerkat named Ranek. It was weird enough for me to throughoutly enjoy painting the clashingly harmonic scenery

Tosk for the_lest via char_shuffle I kind of gave up on trying to make the anatomy decent and just covered it all up with some ~dramatic~ lightening like I usually do

Same deal, I like the previous one better. These are far from symbolic, most of the trad stuff and just personal stuff in general I do for fun and to relax my head, so it's all kind of random

Roger was an assman

Ah, finally got the chance to do something more than scribbles of these. No, they are not usually pink, but damnit, I felt like it

You might recognize these from previous post. I have yet to name them, but as of now they're just "bear-apes in masks and/or really flat faces". These are youngster, the one sleeping being the youngest and the leaping one oldest. When they're born the mask/face is blank, but as they grow their markings/painting gets more complex. No one knows if these markings are biological or if they're painted on, though the former is highly unlikely

When they're born they're covered in a whoolly fuzz that falls off as they change coat into a rougher and thicker type of fur. They develop the typical mane and Elvis-do, but since the fur never stops growing - it's like human hair, strands will eventually fall out, but if allowed to it can grow very long. However, the process, as with a lot of other things concerning these creatures, is qite slow. As thy grow the fur will straighten out and fall around each side of the semi-long neck, much like a horse's mane would

I overdid the inkwork in this on, I kind of regret it (again) since I really liked th original sketch. Let's just call it a hobo-monster. See? I even gave it flies

Used the sketch to do some papercutting (very much inspired by my friend Killrez who talks about getting into this horrible abomination they call a craft... okay, so maybe I just suck at these things. Shut up), and of course, failed epicly. I do think I'll fiddle some more with it, though, it's bound to be a bit better the second time around. Right?

You might have gathered that I've done a lot of these icon commissions lately, I still have one or two currently unfinished, but I decided to post the latest bunch anyway. If you want to see larger sizes for any of these (too lazy to hyperlink) just speak up

Art Post LXVI - In which I truly start to ramble!

Nightmare beast I created for maggock's contest an eternity ago. Some of you might have seen this fellow before through Inner Space (go read it now, it's deadly good. And it has gryphons!)

There WILL be some gore and/or blood below the cut. Nothing really NSFW, but it might not be everyone's cup of tea. Just so you know. Also, if you don't like my lame gore on your friend's list, I suggest you unwatch this blog. I'll always post at leats one large picture outside the cut and it might not always be flowers and unicorns

Also, if you have a slow internet conection... please go run a marathon or something while you wait for these to load. Some of them are rather large

Kalamu struggling with herself

In my headworld, the mythological concept of Day looks like this. He's a grumpy, old street sweeper with an oversized broom. He's always seen with a cigarette hanging at the corner of his mouth. Never seen actually inhaling, but there is always seeping out pure light wich helps bringing about the day as he sweeps away the oily darkness after Night

Night on the other hand is a mischievous pig. Her body is always oozing of this dark, oily material - night and darkness incarnate. She'll frolic across the land in the evening and in the morning Day will come and chase her away

(And no, before anyone asks, this was not inspired by Princess Mononoke at all , please, give me a break)

THESE ARMS, THEY DO NOTHING

I believe I mentioned these guys in my last post. I couldn't find the original sketches, but I've drawn a lot of them lately so it doesn't matter. I don't have any name for this species yet, but it's not what's important

They look a bit like a cross between an ape and/or human and a bear. The fur can be in any colour, but is often in earth tones like brown, ochre, red, grey, etc. The mask is painted in the traditional colours of rosemaling (which I desperately need to learn somehow), which can be anything really, but often features red, blue, black and dark green

They're often very curious. Not quite playful, preferring to keep to themselves, but they're constantly wondering about the world around them. Young individuals can be quite taken aback by the forces of nature, even something as innocent as light rain. I can only imagine this guy during his first hail storm

They never stop growing, but they rarely get older than three hundred years. The one on the left is probably over five hundred years. Individuals like these grow just as fast as the ones that die at a younger age, but since they never really stop, they'll often become quite large and -some might say- monstrous

One of a pair of somewhat sinister creatures, Loger and Kverve. Loger is a fierily type, literally

Kverve is easily half Loger's size, but has a habit of taking charge of the duo. Loger let her do it because despite his looks, he's not stupid and actually pretty empathic for his kind. Kverve is the one doing the sneaking around; she has the ability to completely blend in with the environment. She'll be right before your eyes, but you'll be unable to take much notice of her. She's not very strong, however, so the rest is up to Loger

Oh. I wonder if anyone remembers these. They're a species called pakkaderi and I used to draw them a lot some time ago. They pop up in my note books all the time, but there is never anything worth showing. I decided to change this

Pakkarderi are not "elephant people", nor elephant anthros or anything related to elephants. The only thing they have in common is the name (pakkaderi from pachyderm) and the fairly leathery skin. They're omnivorous, with spiked molars and a set of sharp fangs in the front. They're mostly vegetarians out of religious/spiritual reasons, but are fully able to digest meat, and some do choose to do this (there are even whole groups that lives almost solely on meat as a form of protest)

They're nomads or tripespeople. The flocks rarely exeeds 400 members, but there are cities and larger villages with tens of thousand of members. These cities will often contain more species than just pakkaderi, though

A large part of their culture is body modifications. Piercings and tattoos are popular. Some will also split or cut their long, dangly lower lip (which is like that naturally) or weight it down to make it longer. Certain families and tribes will have their own set of tattoo designs that will be given members at ceremonies in certain points in life; whith their first tattoo frequently given at birth. Other major happenings, such as first period (for females), first child, various symbolic ages, first kill, as punishment for certain crimes or deeds, etc.

This one, a male obviously, is in the middle of a heated argument (which they're oddly fond of along with discussions, quizzes and about any mental contest you can think of). The skirt is worn by both males and females, both sexes rarely use anything on the upper part of the body

(No, I'm not very happy with this drawing. It's only about half finished, and I doubt I'll ever get it done. I just lost my inspiration when I noticed that I had no idea what I was doing anatomy-wise)

Art Post LXV - In which I talk about my characters

I've been hella busy lately. I have trade and commission art on my plate, but all I could manage to scrape together this time was some ancient, as well as more recent, sketches and doodles of animal people standing around, you know

Ballpoint pen straight on paper, touched up with marker that bled beyond the lines and made the ink fuzzy

Drawn on the back of this, the markers bleed through and stained the flipside, so I only coloured the one page that didn't have anything else on the other side

Concept sketches of a character I might elaborate more on some day. It doesn't have any arms or neck, much like Rayman I realize. It's half veevil and then something else. Very sinister

It was hard getting a decent scan of this because I didn't have Photoshop or a proper computer at the time (I don't have the original anymore) so I had to clean up the old version when I got hold of one

Commission for Zombienerd of FA, he asked for something gorey. Yeah I know the heart is on the other side, no I'm not good at planning stuff. Haha, I tried rendering metal with markers and gel pen. Fail

I was listening to random tracks on my computer when drawinga nd colouring this, and just when I was adding the last touches, Griegs "Piano Concerto in A minor, Op." starts-- and then we finish together. It was almost romantic

All the marker commissions are done, yaaay! Now I only have one traditional commission left and I can't wait to get started. I tried something diffreent with these, less lineart, cleaner style, I like it

This one's for Renard_V of FA of his Jackal character just runnin'. He asked me to draw something inspired by some music he has made
